Sound as City Maker - Opening event
An exhibition about a forgotten component of urban planning
You are warmly invited to the opening of the exhibition ‘Sound as Stadmaker’ at Architectuurcentrum Amsterdam. The exhibition will be opened by Maurits de Hoog, Urban Planner Space and Sustainability at the City of Amsterdam and Project Manager Urban Planning Groot-Amsterdamse-Bos.
Soundtrackcity and the Centre for Urban Studies of the University of Amsterdam, together with a group of engaged citizens of Amsterdam, have researched the different ways in which sound can make a positive contribution to the urban experience. This exhibition summarizes the research process and results. During the opening event, participants can also take the recorded soundwalk that was developed as part of the project.
About Soundtrackcity and Crowdsourcing Mr. Visserplein
Soundtrackcity investigates sound as a fundamental component of our living environment. Interdisciplinary teams of sound artists, citizens and architects listen to the city; together they formulate new concepts and methods for the urban planning of the future.
Crowdsourcing Mr. Visserplein is a research project initiated by CUS Member Edda Bild, in collaboration with Soundtrackcity and twenty Amsterdammers involved. The project is funded by a CUS Seed Grant.
The exhibition is at the Architectuurcentrum Amsterdam (ARCAM) and remains open for public at ARCAM until June 24th. More information is available at the ARCAM website.
