Honorary membership for Willem Salet
Willem Salet has been given the AESOP Honorary Member Award at the Rio World Planning Schools Congress. This was announced by the outgoing president of AESOP, Francesco lo Piccolo.
AESOP (Association of European Schools of Planning) was established in 1987 in Belgium as an international association with scientific, artistic and educational purposes and operates according to its Charter. With over 150 members, AESOP is the only representation of planning schools of Europe. AESOP mobilizes its resources, taking a leading role and entering its expertise into ongoing debates and initiatives regarding planning education and planning qualifications of future professionals. Honorary Membership is conferred to a person who has made a significant contribution to the discipline of planning.
Willem Salet is professor of urban and regional planning at the Faculty of Social and Behavioral Sciences, University of Amsterdam. He is programme director of the AISSR programme group Urban Planning and affiliate member of the Centre for Urban Studies.
