All the research facilities and advanced equipment of the University of Amsterdam’s Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FMG) – including a sleep lab, baby lab, fMRI brain scanner and virtual reality lab – have been brought together at the new LAB facility, which officially opened its doors on Thursday, 14 June 2012.

LAB is a place where researchers in the fields of Psychology, Child Development and Education, Communication Sciences and Social Sciences can come together and reinforce each other's research. In addition, other disciplines, both within and outside the UvA, can make use of the facilities. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of LAB, cross-fertilisation and cooperation between various fields of study will be made possible and encouraged. The UvA research priority area Brain and Cognition, will play a prominent role at LAB. The entire range of research techniques are available in LAB: from questionnaires and behavioural tests to study using functional MRI, electro-encephalografie (EEG), transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and eyetracking.
