The term Vinex emerged in 1991 following a policy document of the Dutch Ministry of Housing, Spatial Planning and the Environment. The term denotes an outer city area that is appointed as location for massive new housing development. Vinex areas are often depicted as dull suburbs, opposite of the vibrant city. But is this an acurate depiction?
