I am a PhD candidate in the Challenges to Democratic Representation programme group and the Hot Politics Lab, with an interdisciplinary background spanning psychology, communication science, economics, and statistics.
My research examines how social status cues activate status-related personality traits that help explain support for populist radical-right parties, and how meritocratic discourse fuels this process. Previously, I studied (environmental) social movements, focusing on collective emotions, identities, and the moral underpinnings of normative and non-normative collective action.
Beyond research, I teach courses in political psychology and introductory statistics.
Experimental research, psychological network modelling
Matthijs Rooduijn’s Vidi project Radical Activation: Examining the role of SES and prestige cues in activating narcissistic traits to explain radical right voting.
I teach the Understanding Politics through Psychology course in the Political Psychology minor as well as Introduction to Statistical Analysis for PPLE students.
